By-Laws
1. NAME
The name of the organization shall be Rockdale-Newton Regional Senior Providers Network (RNRSPN), a non-profit service organization.
2. PURPOSE
- To broaden communication between organizations which serve seniors in member counties.
- To education membership and the public about available resources.
- To serve seniors, and
- Identify service gaps that prevent seniors from having their needs met.
3. OBJECTIVES
- To participate in community projects where it can provide information to the general public or other professional organizations about services for seniors.
- To be available as a Speakers Bureau for communities located within the membership area specializing in topics related to senior services.
- To strive to keep abreast of any federal, state or county legislative or regulatory issues affecting seniors.
- To seek solutions to identify service gaps and will advocate where services are needed.
- To provide a speaker and/or presentation at each meeting on a topic of interest relating to senior services
4. MEMBERSHIP
- Any agency or organization serving the senior population in Rockdale, Newton , Walton, Morgan, Butts, Gwinnett, DeKalb and Henry counties may send any number of representatives to each meeting.
- The agency or organization agrees to work toward the goals and the objectives of the RNRSPN.
- Membership shall be available to anyone who in interested in the ideals and goals of the group.
- Criterion for membership includes completion of a membership registration for and payment of annual dues.
5. DUES
- Payment of dues is required for membership in RNRSPN and will be used to offset administrative expenses.
- Initial dues will be $25.00 a year per agency/organization/individual and will be required at membership registration.
- Guests may attend one meeting without becoming members. Only members will receive meeting minutes and other notices.
- RNRSPN’s fiscal year is January 1 to December 31 with annual renewal of membership due on January 1.
6. MEETINGS
- Meetings will be held the third Wednesday of every other month at 1:00 P.M.
- Members will be notified of the meeting location in advance.
7. EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The executive Committee shall be composed of the current officers, the past chairperson, standing committee chairs and a member-at-large.
8. OFFICERS
Officers shall be Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary and past Chairperson. The officers shall appoint standing committee chairs and a member-at-large to serve as the Executive Committee.
9. STANDING COMMITTEES
Standing Committees are Membership, Education, Legislative and others as needed.
10. TERMS OF OFFICE
- Terms of office are one year, however officers may be re-elected for one additional term. When the chair position is vacant due to resignation or end of term, the Vice-Chair becomes the chair elect.
- Each March the RNRSPN members will appoint a nominating committee consisting of a chairperson and tow other members. The approved slate will be presented to the attending members at the May meeting, with nominations also accepted from the floor. All nominees must agree to serve in his/her capacity if elected to office. Election will occur at the May meeting with installation of new officers in July.
- Each agency/organization/individual paid membership shall have one vote.
11. DUTIES
Chairperson: Prepare agenda and conduct meetings; contribute guidance to fellow officers and members; assist in coordination mechanism or organization as necessary to meet the goals and objectives.
Vice-Chair: Act as the Chairperson in their absence. Assist Chairperson with duties and responsibilities. Serve as Program Chair.
Treasurer: Maintain financial records on payables and receivables. Present a financial report to the organization at each meeting. Collect dues and keep a log of paid members. Keep bank records.
Secretary: Record and distribute minutes to members within two weeks of the meeting. Send out notices to meetings, minutes of prior meetings and other notices/information approved by the Executive Committee.
12. STANDING COMMITEES
- Membership: Solicit for new members. Welcome and orient new members. Keep meeting roster and coordinate function with Treasurer.
- Education: Plans and coordinates organizational and community education.
- Legislative: Keep abreast of any federal, state, local legislative or regulatory issues affecting seniors. Keep RNRSPN members informed of such.
13. AMENDMENTS
The By-Laws may be amended by a majority of those present at regular scheduled meetings, provided the proposed By-Law change is submitted in writing to RNRSPN members at least 30 days prior to the vote.
